Curiosity Didn't Kill the Cat. It Built the Brand.

I want to share an experience from this week that has been on my mind. I’ve been experimenting with Claude's new design tool. I didn’t use a full brief or a detailed prompt. I simply wanted to see what it could do.

For my first test, I uploaded information about our brand avatar, SOFI. This included a video introducing her, some context about ECS, and a few details about what we do. Then, I typed one simple prompt: create a landing page for me.

That was it. I didn’t specify brand colors, layout direction, or provide a lengthy description of what I wanted. What came back stopped me in my tracks.

It wasn’t perfect. I know that if I had provided more context, more of our brand voice, and more specifics, it would have aligned even better. But what it produced on the first try? It was something I would have handed to a designer and said, “This is the direction.” All from one simple prompt.

I sat there thinking: what if I had given it everything?

Then I Tried It With the Workbook

Currently, I am developing a step-by-step workbook for an upcoming workshop. Normally, the process looks like this: I draft the content, pass it to the team, someone edits it, it goes to a designer for layout, and days later, we have something finished. That is the best-case scenario.

This time, I uploaded the cover, the introduction, and the first three sections. I added our brand colors and our company name. Then, I asked Claude Design to help me create a layout.

First draft. Done.

Now, I’m reflecting on what this means for small business owners. Many have a workbook sitting in a Google Doc that they started eight months ago and never finished because they couldn’t afford a designer. Others have ideas in their notes app that never became products because the gap between idea and execution felt too wide. That gap just got a lot smaller.

This Is What Leveling the Playing Field Actually Looks Like

I often discuss how AI levels the playing field. I teach it and have built certifications around it. Yet, moments like this week remind me why I do this work.

When a micro business owner, who wears every hat in their company, can upload their brand information once and have their team pull from it consistently to produce professional, on-brand content and design, that is not a small thing. That is transformational. It compresses months of back-and-forth into an afternoon. It turns an idea that was sitting on a shelf into a reality.

I want to be clear: this is not cheating. This is not cutting corners. This is about using the tools available to work smarter, not harder. That is exactly the message I shared with 84 people at SCORE Broward this past quarter, and it’s the same message I’m bringing to you now.

The businesses that will thrive in this next season are not necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets. They are the ones with the curiosity to ask, "What is possible here?" and the commitment to spend time finding out.

What I Need From You Right Now

Here’s where I’m taking this energy next.

I am building a white paper this year titled "Get Equipped: The State of AI Literacy Among Women and Underrepresented Entrepreneurs." As excited as I am about what AI can do, I want to know about your experiences. How are women and underrepresented business owners actually using AI? Where are the gaps? What are the barriers?

I do not want to guess. I want data. And I need your voice in it.

My first goal is to gather 100 survey responses. The bigger the sample, the more meaningful the findings, and the more I can use this research to shape the programs, resources, and support I bring to this community.

It takes less than five minutes. And it matters more than you know.

If you are ready to stop watching AI from the sidelines and start building with it alongside a community that is figuring it out together, come join us inside the Get Equipped Academy™. It is free to join, and it is the space where we ask questions, share discoveries, and learn out loud.

You are not being left behind. There is still time. The most important thing you can do right now is stay curious, keep playing, and find your community.

That is exactly what we are here for. 💚
