Why I Almost Canceled the AI Summit I'd Been Dreaming About for Two Years

I almost didn't do this.

Three weeks ago at midnight, I nearly hit "cancel" on the whole thing. Two years of vision, gone. Perfectionism had me frozen, waiting for every piece to fall into place, waiting to feel "ready."

Then I went to the Create Conference by She Leads AI in Utah.

The Space That Changed Everything

Picture this: I'm one of a handful of women of color in the room. But from the moment I walked in, something felt different. These organizers created scholarships to get us there. They made space for us to feel seen.

They weren't just hosting panels talking about AI. They were showing us how to use it. Giving us tools. Working alongside us. Creating deliverables in real-time.

And I thought: This is it. This is what I've been trying to build for two years.

During one of the sessions, a speaker said something that stuck: "Done is better than perfect. Get it out there. See what works, see what doesn't, and do it again."

But more than that? I met a community of sisters. Women who didn't look exactly like me but who got it. Who encouraged me. Who cheered me on to keep pushing. I can still hear their voices telling me to get this done.

Why I'm Moving Forward Anyway

I'm a teacher with 17 years in the classroom. When I discovered AI in 2022, I immediately saw it: this is the next internet boom. Our community can't afford to miss this wave.

So I built a framework, Transform, Train, Tool Up, the way I know people actually learn. But I kept second-guessing myself.

Utah confirmed what I already knew: my approach works. Hands-on beats lecture-style every time. People need tools, not just inspiration.

So I'm launching. Imperfectly. With a small team. With speakers who believe in the mission. With systems, we'll improve as we go.

Because that's what my sisters in Utah showed me: you don't wait for perfect. You launch. You learn. You serve with excellence anyway.
