My ECS Journey: A Path to AI Integration

I'm Nolan, and I just completed my 16-week internship with Enilram Creative Solutions as an AI Integration intern. During my time with ECS, I gained hands-on experience with AI integration, worked on real client projects, and earned my ECS AI Integration Specialist credential. Here's my journey and what I learned.
What I enjoyed most was seeing an idea move from a conversation with an AI assistant to something real that people actually use—a scheduled campaign, a live page, a working workflow.

AI in Action: LinkedIn Profile Transformation
For my LinkedIn profile, I wanted to change my headline to reflect more than just my status as a Computer Information Systems student. Initially, my headline read, “Computer Information Systems Student at James Madison University.” I transformed it to “Operations & Administrative Support Intern at Enilram Creative Solutions | Cybersecurity Intern | James Madison University ’27.” This change was made to ensure that anyone viewing my profile could immediately see my current internship experience, the fields I have expertise in, and the school I attend.
To help me improve my headline, I used ChatGPT and prompted it with: “Make me a LinkedIn headline that only includes my current positions and the school I attend. Include my Operations & Administrative Support Internship at Enilram Creative Solutions, my Cybersecurity Internship, and James Madison University ’27.” This prompt helped me create a headline that was simple yet informative, allowing recruiters to quickly grasp my professional experience while still recognizing my academic journey.

Resume Transformation
The transformation began with me using ChatGPT to review my resume and provide feedback based on my desired career path. I asked ChatGPT to analyze my resume from the perspective of a recruiter hiring for a Systems Analyst or other technology-related position. I wanted to know which parts of my resume were relevant, what I should improve, and what information I could remove.
One of the biggest lessons I learned was that I don't need to include every job I've had. Instead, I should focus on experiences that relate to the position I am applying for. The changes I made include:
I removed work experiences that were not relevant to the technology and information systems field. This gave me more space to focus on experiences that better showcase my suitability for a Systems Analyst position.
I added my ECS internship and emphasized my experience with AI, improving workflows, technology integration, and process improvement.
I included my cybersecurity internship, as it provided additional experience in technology, research, and process improvement.
I retained projects that demonstrate my technical skills, including my work with Excel, Python, and Java.
I revised some bullet points to better articulate what I accomplished and the skills I gained, rather than merely listing responsibilities.
I updated my technical skills section to make it easier for employers to see the various tools and programming languages I have experience with.
Growth & Learning Journey
Starting Point
At the beginning of my ECS internship, I had a basic understanding of AI. Most of my experience with AI came from using it for school assignments when I needed help understanding a topic, brainstorming ideas, or improving my work. Consequently, I mainly viewed AI as a tool for school rather than something applicable in a professional setting.
When I started my internship, I aimed to expand my understanding of AI and learn how it could be used more broadly. I wanted to learn how to use AI not only to answer questions but also to enhance my professional skills, solve problems, generate ideas, and make certain tasks more efficient. I was particularly interested in learning how to create better prompts and communicate clearly with AI to receive more useful and accurate responses.
Learning Highlights
One of the most significant lessons I learned throughout the internship was how to utilize AI in various ways beyond school assignments. I discovered that AI can be beneficial for problem-solving, improving my work, generating ideas, and simplifying tasks.
Through ECS projects, workshops, and assignments, I became more comfortable with crafting better prompts, reviewing AI responses, and adjusting my prompts when I wasn't getting the desired results. I also learned that AI performs best when I provide clear instructions and sufficient information about my objectives.
AI Integration Skills
Some of the AI-related skills I developed include:
Writing better prompts – I learned to be more specific with my prompts and modify them when I wasn't receiving the desired response.
Professional Development
Beyond AI, the internship helped me enhance my problem-solving and communication skills. Working on various projects encouraged me to focus on my objectives rather than merely completing tasks.
Utilizing AI also taught me how to leverage it as a tool to enhance my work while still applying my own ideas and judgment. I learned that while AI can assist in the process, I am ultimately responsible for reviewing the results and determining what should be utilized.
Confidence Growth
By the end of the internship, I became more confident in my ability to use AI effectively. I transitioned from primarily using AI for school assignments to employing it for professional projects, brainstorming, enhancing my resume and LinkedIn, and creating content.
I now possess a better understanding of how AI can be integrated into professional work while still requiring human judgment, creativity, and decision-making.
My Best ECS Project
My Most Important ECS Projects
The two projects I chose to highlight are the AI video project and the spotlight slide. I selected these because they allowed me to use AI in different ways and provided experience in creating work suitable for a professional setting. Both projects helped me understand how AI can be utilized beyond answering questions or assisting with schoolwork.
The AI video project was significant for me because it was something I had never attempted before. I learned how AI could aid in video creation and how to modify and enhance my prompts to achieve the desired results. This experience demonstrated how AI can be used creatively and helped me become more comfortable experimenting with new AI tools.
The spotlight slide was crucial because I was creating something for a real client. I had to ensure the information was clear, the slide appeared professional, and the final product met the client's needs. This project taught me to pay closer attention to the purpose of my work and provided insight into what it's like to apply my skills to a real business project.
My Future and ECS Impact
In the future, I aspire to pursue a career as a Systems Analyst. This career interests me because it combines technology, problem-solving, and working with various systems to identify ways to enhance business operations.
My experience at ECS also sparked my interest in how AI can be utilized in a Systems Analyst role. As AI continues to gain traction in the workplace, I want to explore how it can be employed to analyze information, solve problems, improve systems, and streamline tasks. I believe that understanding how to leverage AI will be a vital skill I can bring into my future career.
Throughout my ECS internship, I grew more comfortable using AI for purposes beyond school assignments. I learned the importance of writing clear prompts, reviewing the information AI provides, and making adjustments when the response does not meet my needs. These skills are ones I can continue to develop and apply in my future work.
ECS helped me realize that AI should not replace my own thinking but can serve as a tool to support my efforts. Moving forward, I am eager to continue learning about technology, information systems, and AI to become a Systems Analyst who can adapt to new technologies and use them effectively.

Earning my ECS AI Integration Specialist credential represents the progress I made throughout the internship. It signifies my experience using AI in professional contexts and my understanding of how to utilize it as a tool rather than relying on it to perform all tasks for me.
ECS helped me understand that AI should not replace my own thinking but should be employed as a tool to enhance my work. As I move forward, I am committed to continuing my education in technology, information systems, and AI to become a Systems Analyst capable of adapting to new technologies and using them effectively.
Advice for Future ECS Interns
My advice to future ECS interns is to take initiative. Don’t hesitate to experiment with different AI tools and prompts. The first result may not always be the best. Some of my most valuable insights came from adjusting my prompts, evaluating what worked, and persisting in my efforts.
